What do you offer?
My work is fun and colourful (like me!), and my approach is very natural and candid. I love capturing all the fun little moments that happen in between the big ones, because that all adds up to telling the story of your wedding day.
Why do you want to work with the LGBTQ+ community?
As a newly-minted member of the LGBTQ+ community, I now understand why I’ve always seemed to surround myself with queer people. I thought I just loved the vibe of queer joy! But it’s also because I felt like part of the community, even when I thought I wasn’t. So now more than ever, I want to celebrate that joy, and be the biggest champion of it that I can be. And taking photos of a momentous occasion and capturing all the love is the best way I know how to do that!
Allyship
I’ve always believed that LGBTQIA+ rights are human rights, and I’m more than ready to speak up if I see someone being misgendered or mistreated because of their identity. I’ve walked in both Pride and Trans Pride; the latter being particularly important to me because my spouse is trans. I’ve learned so much from their journey, and now I follow more Trans and LGBTQ+ accounts and creators than I ever thought possible! I’ll continue to learn, grow, and be open to new things, because there’s always more to discover when it comes to allyship. The current climate in the UK is not great (understatement of the year) when it comes to LGBTQ+ rights, and creating a safe space like Rebel Love is so damn important for people just trying to live their authentic lives.
I’ve made sure that I have a space for pronouns on my enquiry form, and that my contracts and forms all use gender neutral language like “Your Name & Partner’s Name”, or “Person A and Person B”. On my homepage, I say that I’m LGBTQ+ friendly and that LGBTQ+ people are in the right place if they’re looking for a photographer. I’ve tried to display photos of queer couples on my website as prominently as possible. I also put my pronouns on all my social media/website, so people know I’ll be open to theirs too.
don't forget to let me know that you found me on Rebel Love Directory!
