What do you offer?
A queer-owned wedding photography business for queer couples, providing safe, authentic and stunning photos of couples in love.
Why do you want to work with the LGBTQIA+ Community?
As a member of the community, it is important to me that couples are represented authentically in their wedding photos by providing a safe space for them to be their true selves. I want couples to have no question as to whether their photographer is 'lgbtq+ friendly;' it shouldn't just be a hidden page on a website for SEO purposes. I offer loud and proud photography for queer couples to celebrate their love.
Allyship
I have created a business that offers non-gendered and inclusive wedding services. I am working towards challenging the default cis-het face of the wedding industry, and this is in direct correlation with my day-to-day approach to challenging other people's gendered or non-inclusive language. I attend Pride in Leeds and/or York whenever I'm not at a wedding, and I support my local drag kings and queens.
I live in a very 'white' area of the country (with global majority groups estimated to be 11% in 2009). Representing diversity in this area is not without its challenges but I aim to represent global majority groups in my portfolio at a disproportionately higher percentage than the percentage of the population in my area. Same-sex couples and weddings understandably feature more prominently than straight-presenting couples, representing the safe space I feel I have created for the LGBTQ+ community. I also aim to make it clear to couples that any love is accepted which is why I named my business 'Love is Love Studio' so that opposite-sex couples can feel included too.
